4 Reasons Cluttered Homes Don't Sell As Well

Real Estate Blog

If you are ready to sell your home and you have a lot of stuff in it, then you should learn how all those belongings can fight your best efforts to get your home sold fast. Once you have a clear picture of just how much clutter can get in the way of you getting offers, you may see the importance of doing something about the clutter as soon as possible. Here are 4 reasons that cluttered home may not sell how you would like it to:

1: Buyers won't be able to see past the clutter

When someone comes out to see your home they want to see as much of it as possible. They want to have a clear picture of all the features each room has. When there is too much clutter throughout the home, it can make it hard for the buyer to get a feel for the great spaces and areas your home has to offer.

2: Buyers may be concerned about pests

When you live in a home you know that you have it clean, even though you have a lot of items in it. However, to some buyers that clutter can look like potential nesting grounds for pests. The thought of buying a home that they feel may have an infestation may scare them off. It won't matter that their assumptions are wrong, only that those assumptions will keep them from buying your home.

3: Your house may look much smaller than it really is

When you have your home loaded with a lot of things it can make the house look smaller than it really is. This can be a problem when it comes to selling your house. You want to show your house as one with plenty of space with as open of a floor plan as possible. Cluttering up the rooms makes it feel cramped, small and gives the buyer the feeling that they may not have the options they want with regards to having the space needed to decorate how they want.

4: Buyers can have a hard time seeing the house as their own

When buyers look at a house, they will want to envision it as theirs. This will help them to see whether or not they can picture their family calling it their own. When you have claimed every space with tons of your belongings, buyers won't be able to look past everything to see it as their place.
